Our featured speaker for the May Luncheon is Ed Baker, former editor of the Atlanta business Chronicle and current Georgia State faculty member. In his informative and entertaining style, Baker will discuss “Demystifying Millennials.”

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:

Ed Baker is full-time Executive in Residence at Georgia State University’s Robinson College of Business, the sixth largest business school in the country.

He is working in all areas of business education development, including teaching, curriculum, career advancement, community outreach, alumni relations, and strategy and development.

Both of Ed’s degrees are from Georgia State, including a Masters in International Business in 2014 and he has been teaching millennials for the past five years at the college level.

Prior to joining RCB, Ed was Publisher of Atlanta Business Chronicle for 30 years, one of the country’s largest business journals.

In addition to his local responsibilities, Ed was Chief Strategic Officer of American City Business Journals, the parent company with 40 business journals throughout the country.

Ed grew up in Atlanta and has always been very active in the community. He has served on numerous boards including the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau, Junior Achievement of Georgia, Leadership Atlanta, Atlanta Business League, Arby’s Foundation, The Atlanta Sports Council, the American Red Cross and the Georgia Council on Economic Education.

The Atlanta Press Club and Atlanta Advertising Club have given Ed their Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Prior to joining the Chronicle, Ed was a senior marketing executive (with J. Walter Thompson and DMB&B), having worked on the launch of The Weather Channel, the first cellular telephone for BellSouth, and the introduction of the Kawasaki Jet Ski. Additional account management experience included Six Flags Over Georgia, Dunlop golf and tennis, Kenwood Electronics and Flav-O-Rich Dairies.

He has been happily married to his high school sweetheart for 41 years. They have one married son and one awesome grandson who live in Atlanta.
